What makes evidence defensible?

Defensibility is not the absence of criticism. It is the ability to withstand structured examination.

More than a result

A number, map or model output is not automatically a defensible institutional statement. A reviewer must be able to understand what supports the statement and where the evidence stops.

SDX treats support, limitation and reviewability as part of the evidentiary result rather than as material added after the conclusion.

Evidence that can be challenged

A defensible statement does not claim immunity from disagreement. Its strength lies in making the evidentiary basis sufficiently explicit that disagreement can be directed at the right level.
